Salinas, CA. (May 20, 2001) -The Line-X Obsession Monster Truck came prepared for battle into the Salinas Rodeo Grounds anticipating the return of the Dennis Anderson and the “Grave Digger”. Dennis, the original driver of the world renowned monster truck “Grave Digger” was attempting to pull off the win after a four-year hiatus from the Salinas event. The event sponsored by “Built Ford Tough” trucks attracted some of the biggest names in USHRA Monster Truck Racing. Names like “Goldberg, Blue Thunder, and Dragon Slayer, to name a few, all came out to compete in front of the 20,000+ person crowd.

Although the competition was evenly matched, the crowd favorite was Dennis Anderson and the “Grave Digger”.

After a random drawing of who races whom first, Line-X Obsession, was the one to challenge Grave Digger. Driver Rick Swanson of the Line-X Obsession, knew he had to pull off one of his best reaction times to beat Dennis, and was successful at just that. With Rick having the advantage of leaving first off the line, it was all down hill from there. Dennis gave it his all attempting to catch “Obsession” in “Digger,” but a “chase is a race” and the Line-X Obsession Monster Truck pulled off the biggest upsets of the event.
