LINE-X Kicks Off NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in Daytona
Daytona, FL.
(February 12, 2004)
- LINE-X Spray-on Bedliners, in partnership with Bang Racing, confirmed today
that the #24 Toyota Tundra, driven by last year's Craftsman Truck Series
Champion, Travis Kvapil, will compete in the season opener to be run in Daytona,
FL. on Friday, February 13. Of note, the #24 Tundra is owned by NASCAR legend,
Larry McReynolds. With strong team ownership, a Championship driver with a
proven track record, and sponsorship by industry leaders such as LINE-X and
Toyota Racing Development, the #24 Tundra is certain to make an immediate impact
on the Craftsman Truck Series.
The race marks the first of 25 Craftsman Truck Series events in which LINE-X
will take Associate Sponsorship with the #42 Tundra driven by Mike Skinner, as
well as Title Sponsorship with the #24 Tundra, driven by Kvapil.
The defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion, Travis Kvapil, driving the #24 LINE-X Toyota Tundra, qualified in the third position in Daytona, turning in a blistering 182.830 mph - just .81 mph behind the leader. Only two of the Tundras cracked the top 10, but none of the other five placed lower than 17th.
Kvapil was quoted as saying "I knew we'd do well, but not this well. I'm really happy for the Bang! team. They've worked really hard to get here. Toyota didn't have a lot of time to fine-tune the engine, but they should be very proud of the improvements they made from testing in January." After completing the second lap of qualifying, Kvapil seemed ecstatic in interviews, repeatedly thanking his LINE-X and Toyota sponsors.
In the world of Craftsman Truck Racing, there are few certainties. However, with a viewing audience expected to exceed 10 million, it is certain that all eyes will be on Travis Kvapil and the #24 LINE-X Toyota Tundra in this history-making event. Speed Channel will air the event live, at 8:00 p.m. EST, Friday, February 13, 2004.
The season opener in Daytona will be televised live
on Speed Channel at 8:00 p.m., EST, with LINE-X commercial spots aired during
the broadcast. Encore broadcasts will be aired at least twice the following week
(also with LINE-X commercial spots repeated during the broadcast). Check your
local listings for broadcast schedules in your area.
Be sure and take a peek in the back of the #24 Tundra to see what Travis will
be carting around the oval track this season!
