LINE-X Houseboat/Marine Decks - Abrasion Resistance, Non-slip, Color Coded
|
The Challenge - The decks on houseboats are subject to harsh conditions and repeated exposure to the elements. The decks are traditionally constructed with high grade plywood covered with a labor intensive fiberglass gelcoat surface. In no time, the decks on these million dollar house boats become damaged due to the gelcoatÃs susceptibility to cracks and inability to withstand a significant impact. Due to EPA concerns, maintenance and repairs can cost thousands of dollars since the boat has to be removed from the water before fiberglass work can be performed. The Solution - The wooden deck to the left was first sanded, then coated with 125 mils (approximately 1/8th of an inch) of LINE-X XS-100. It was then coated with a proprietary topcoat, LINE-X XTRA, to give it a lasting glossy color coded finish. The total application time was approximately 1/4th that of the traditional gelcoat finish. The Result - With superior tensile strength and abrasion resistance, the XS100 created a surface that was tough, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. In addition to providing superior protection, the LINE-X slip resistant coating helps prevent slip and fall injuries. Since LINE-X has zero VOC/CFC small repairs can be made waterborne decreasing maintenance cost. For more information download the LINE-X House Boat Deck Case Study |
